ICARUS crafting calculator & production planner
Pick any item and an amount or a rate: get every crafting step, raw material, station, power draw and leftover, with your choice of recipe and station at each step.
What to make
How to plan
- Search for the item you want to make and add it. Add more items to plan them together.
- Choose Amount for a shopping list (whole crafts, leftovers shown) or Rate for a production line (items per minute, stations to build).
- Open a row’s options to switch its recipe, the station it runs at, the item used for an “Any” ingredient, or enter what you already have.
- Read the totals: raw materials with weight, stations, power and electricity, water and fuel. Copy the link to share the exact plan.
Example: 10 Electronics
OpenHow the numbers work
Recipe amounts are per craft: one craft is one batch, and a batch can make many items (one Steel Screw craft makes 100). In Amount mode every step runs whole crafts, so 216 Steel Screws take 3 crafts and leave 84 spare.
In Rate mode crafts are exact: the planner shows the exact number of stations (for example ×2.4) and how many to build (3), rounding up only real shortfalls, never float noise.
Values the game computes at runtime are never guessed: station speed bonuses are shown raw, unknown power draws are listed and left out of the totals, and fuel use is marked “computed in-game”.
Planner FAQ
How does the ICARUS crafting calculator work?
Pick an item and how many you want (or how many per minute). The planner follows the recipe for every ingredient down to raw materials, totals them, and lists each station with its craft count, time, power and water. You can change the recipe for any item and the station for any recipe; the totals update instantly and the link keeps your plan.
How is craft time calculated?
Craft time is the recipe's crafting work divided by the station's processing rate, both from the game data. A Steel Ingot takes 15,000 crafting work and the Electric Furnace processes 2,500 /s, so one craft takes 6 s, and 30 ingots a minute need exactly 3 furnaces. Electricity is separate: the furnace draws 2.5 kW while it runs, so one Steel Ingot uses 15 kJ (draw × craft time).
Does the planner include station speed bonuses and talents?
No, because the game data does not say how they are applied. 9 stations carry a raw speed bonus (for example +50%), which the planner shows next to the station but leaves out of the times. For talents and research, enter your own craft-time and input-cost multipliers under Manual adjustments; they are applied literally, and the raw talent values are listed for reference.
Which recipe does the planner pick by default?
It never picks a random-output, thaw, cleanse, skinning, trade or refund recipe, and treats mined ores, creature loot and Charcoal as raw. Drinks (Purified Water, Hot Cocoa …) fill a container you already hold: pick one and the planner plans the drink, never the container. Among the rest it avoids talent-gated, mission-only and DLC-only recipes, then prefers the fewest crafting steps to raw, then the game's own main recipe. 116 items have more than one recipe and 1326 recipes run at more than one station, so every step has a recipe and station picker.
Why do some stations say power is computed in-game?
10 electric stations have no power draw in the game data: the game computes it at runtime. The planner adds up only known draws (from the data, or a cited override such as the Electric Furnace's 2.5 kW (2,500 units/s)) and the electricity they use (draw × craft time), and lists the stations it could not include as computed in-game.
Is the data up to date?
Yes. Recipes, stations and talents are rebuilt from the game files for every patch. This planner uses Week 252 data: 2,206 recipes across 88 stations.
